UNIVERSITY OF PERPETUAL HELP SYSTEM


The University of Perpetual Help System Dalta (UPHSD), or simply Perpetual, is a private, co-educational and non-sectarian institution of higher learning located in Las Pinas City and was founded on 1975 by Dr. Antonio Tamayo, Dr. Daisy Tamayo, and Ernesto Crisostomo as Perpetual Help College of Rizal (PHCR).

The University of Perpetual Help System offers courses in pre-school, elementary, secondary and the tertiary and graduate levels; as well as short vocational, technical and special courses.

University of Perpetual Help System DALTA has three main campuses:

UPHSD Las Pinas Campus, in Las Pinas City Manila,
UPHSD Molino Campus, in Molino Cavite and
UPHSD Calamba Campus, in Calamba Laguna all in the district of Manila, Philippines.

The University of Perpetual Help System Las Pinas is the main campus of University of Perpetual Help System DALTA with which under the entire university system of University of Perpetual Help System. This university system is composed of nine campuses across the Philippines.

Formerly known as University of Perpetual Help Rizal, the Las Pinas Main Campus of the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA was envisioned by its founders to fulfill their nationalistic dreams of promoting a better quality of life for all Filipinos through the school's competitive educational programs.

The University of Perpetual Help System DALTA is recognized by Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation (PACUCOA) as the only institution south of Metro Manila to have the greatest number of Level III Accredited programs

University of Perpetual Help System Dalta (UPHSD), Las Pinas Campus: Formerly named Perpetual Help College of Rizal (PHCR), the 1st and biggest University of Perpetual Help System DALTA located in Las Pinas city has a student population of around 12,000 students and employs about 1,500 teaching and non-teaching staff. It offers more than 70 undergraduate and more than 10 postgraduate academic programs in addition to its primary and secondary academic offerings.

University of Perpetual Help System Dalta (UPHSD) Molino Campus

The 2nd University of Perpetual Help System DALTA (UPHSD) campus, the Molino campus was established and inaugurated in May 1995. Currently, the UPHSD caters to a student population of 4,000 - a dramatic increase based on its initial 700 enrollees. Standing tall in a pristine land area of 6 hectares, the Molino campus is now the most notable educational institution in Bacoor, Cavite and its neighboring towns. It is currently undergoing campus expansion and upgrading of facilities.

University of Perpetual Help System Dalta (UPHSD), Calamba Campus

The 3rd University of Perpetual Help System DALTA (UPHSD), the Calamba campus was established in 1996 with only 360 students. To date, its enrollment has dramatically increased to 2,500 enrollees. Strategically located in Barangay Paciano Rizal, Calamba City, the 4-hectare campus has an impressive line of state-of-the-art educational facilities conducive for learning.

The University of Perpetual Help System DALTA is duly accredited by the Philippine Commission on Higher Education (CHED) to accept foreign students from all over the world in all its degree programs in the undergraduate and graduate levels. It has attained the coveted stature of a world-class institution of higher learning. The university has a academic programs, namely: Medical and health sciences, liberal arts, business and accounting, engineering, information technology, international hospitality management, tourism, criminology, maritime, aviation, customs management, law, technical vocational education, continuing education for professionals, Corporate Executive Master in Business Administration and doctoral programs in Education, Business, and Nursing University of Perpetual Help System Dalta (UPHSD) has been providing quality education for 45 years. UPHSD focus on the total development of our students, beginning with character building to mastery of skills, thus enable our graduates to get ahead in their careers.

BS MD Program:

Philippines have developed the education system, similar to the USA.

After High School (Grade 10) the students join a Bachelors Degree. Those who want to study Medicine do the Pre-Medicine in Bachelor of Science in Biology, Medical Technology, Nursing, Pharmacy or Physiotherapy. After which they sit for National Medical Admission Test (NMAT) exam then they enroll for 4 years medical course known as 'Doctor of Medicine' (MD).

1st year of MD- University of Perpetual Help

The 1st year covers the normal Human Anatomy, Biochemistry, Physiology, Preventive Medicine & Community health, Psychiatry and Medical Practice I. Class lectures are delivered mostly through computers using LCD projectors complemented by slide/ film showing, laboratory work and group discussions. Pedagogy and Bioethics are incorporated in Principles of Medical Practice I. An introduction to Medical Informatics is incorporated in Preventive Medicine and Community Health before the biostatistics session. Problem-based learning is gradually introduces in certain topics in Biochemistry and Physiology.

2nd year of MD- University of Perpetual Help

The 2nd year deals with Pathology, Microbiology, Parasitology, Pharmacology, Preventive Medicine and Community Health, Psychiatry II and Medical Economics plus introductory courses in clinical subjects. In small groups, students begin to meet patients in actual hospital setting where they are introduced to history taking and physical examination.

3rd year of MD- University of Perpetual Help

The third year involves dedicated lectures on common diseases encountered in clinical practice as well as common and rare conditions. Pathophysiology is reviewed while clinical features, diagnostic approaches and principles of management are emphasized.

4th year of MD- University of Perpetual Help

The 4th year or clinical clerkship is mainly spent in actual patient care with the Hospital in Las Pinas serving as the clinical laboratory. Hospital rounds and group discussions give the student a good perspective on bedside manners, diagnosis and management. The clerks rotate through the different clinical departments for 48 weeks with periodic evaluation. The University has arrangement with Government Hospitals and the Philippine General Hospital for clerkship.
